Second Star To The Right

Dear San Diego Friends,

We wanted to let you know about a special event that’s coming up later this month. Recently we’ve been working with one of our favorite partners, Monarch School, to create a unique interpretation of the familar story of Peter Pan. The production will feature the creative original work of Monarch students as well as a rare performance by Catherine (and her sister, Laura) of an excerpt from their play Second Star to the Right.

Laura and Catherine ready for the show, circa 2013

Second Star to the Right is an autobiographical play that tells the story of Catherine and Laura’s experiences in New York City and explores themes of family, adventure, imagination, mental health, and resilience, all within the context of the story of Peter Pan, who didn’t ever want to grow up.

The Monarch School and their amazing students are special to us and we’re excited to collaborate with them in their mission to “nurture resilience in unhoused youth and their families.”

The show is family-friendly and complete with fighting pirates—including a very special guest appearance by Imagine’s own teaching artist extraordinaire, Marisol “Captain Hook” Laborde!—magical fairies, and the child-like spirit in all of us. Also, it’s free to attend!

HERE ARE THE DETAILS…
