What does it mean to find refuge? To be refuge?

Friends - We have a special invite for you.

Recently, we began a partnership with UCSD’s Center for Comparative Immigration Studies on a project called “Reimagining Refuge”. They convened a cohort of scholars, researchers, artists, and community organizers from across California to expand our imagination for migrant communities and for all of us. As we care a lot about immigration and all the possibilities for being in deeper solidarity together, we joined the effort.

One of the first fruits of this partnership is an event coming up in early December. It’s shaping up to be a special evening that features local artists as well as Imagine’s Refugia Playback Theatre ensemble. We would love to share it with you.

All the details are below.

Please consider joining us!

P.S. If you can’t make it to the event, you can still help us support the artists who are sharing their work at the event. All ticket proceeds and donations will go to the artists. Click on the “Get Tickets” button on the Eventbrite invite (link below) to donate.

Join us for a night filled with creativity and meaningful dialogue as a group of local artists leads us to reimagine refuge. What does it mean to find refuge? To be refuge? Supported by a cohort of local institutions and organizations, the event explores ways to respond to and think beyond the current situation impacting migrant communities. The evening will include live performance, art installations, and musical performances as well as interactive opportunities for conversation and prompts for creative action. Come and join us as we imagine a better future for our communities!
